Help us raise funds to renovate, buy chairs and tables for our classrooms

The name of our organization is Society of Open Minds (abbreviated S.O.M., also pronounced S-Oh-M). This non-profit organization was founded by Mosiki Joseph ([email protected]) and Nkhela Patrick ([email protected]). It was established on May 2018

It is currently in process of registering with Department of Social Development.

Main programs ran by this organization is of education.

Firsty, After-School Study Program - School learners from grade 1 to 9 are being assisted with their school work (homeworks, projects etc.) after school. This program is active for 4 days a week. Any leaner from any school and place doing mentioned grades above is allowed to get our services for free of charge.

Secondly, it is Grade 10s Study Groups. Here high school leaners doing only grade 10 are allowed to take part.

They are created a place for study groups after school. So they do their homeworks, projects, investigations, assignments and all. Moreover for discussing and helping each with their school work.

These programs are created to assist these learners with their school work. Not all of school children have people to assist them with their schoolwork at their homes. Some live with people who don't care about their education. Some live with disabled parents barring them to help. Some live with uneducated people. Some are even living alone.

Because of all those reasons, that is why we decided to create these programs to help these children.

We offer all our services free of charge.

Amongst others, we also a health program of Sickness and Awareness Campaign program.

Our people still need education about these deadly diseases although the awarenesses don't side line 'simple' diseases. We believe any sickness is a threat to one's health. We gather our information of diseases from reliable sources on the internet, books and the clinic.

Our organization is using a building (previously was just a four roomed house). We use two of those four rooms.

Our organization's needs are as follows:

Renovations of the rooms we use

Chairs and tables, our participants struggle to settle in as chairs and table are few. Few an in less than 10. They sit on anything they can and small ones sit on mat.

Office bearers need laptops for their work.

Study materials for our needy participants.

One desktop computer, scanner, photocopier, and printer for organization's paperwork.

Generator, because the building we use has no electricity.

New school uniforms and shoes for our needy participants.

We started this campaign to get gather money to use on those mentioned things above.
