Assist a young creator get a more modern creative tool

Hi my name is Julian and I am from South Africa. I live in a small seaside village that relies heavily on tourism. The photo is me and my two sons. They both still live at home. On my right is Stephen, the youngest (and tallest), who works in the food and beverage department of the cruise liner industry. He is obviously currently ashore but we are very happy he is safely home in the middle of this pandemic. On my left is Aaron, and he got his mom's creative genes.

Being a creator is one of the hardest things you can be. To make something out of nothing AND make it pay you a salary. Easier to be an accountant or sell shoes. Aaron has talent. Probably no more or less than hundreds of others, but he has chosen his talent as his career path. He was supposed to start an internship at a graphic design company in April, but Covid-19 happened. Aaron is using a 10 year old 2.66 Gb Quad Core PC with 4Gb RAM and a 2Gb Nvidia graphics card. We bought him a Huion 1060+ tablet that he loves. When it was new, this computer was one of the best (we bought is second hand in 2014) but with running Blender, Unity and Vegas14 for editing video it is often a case of "press the key and go make a cup of tea!" We keep talking about getting him a new machine but I lost my job 3 years ago and since I have been doing whatever I could find.

This fundraiser is for Aaron for a new PC or laptop. For $850 one can get a decent desktop or refurbished high end laptop in South Africa. Thankfully his brother has helped with Aaron's tuition next year and we are grateful, but replacing his computer is out of our reach.

He does not know I am trying this, and tries not to complain about his computer because he knows there is no money. Recently it has taken to being temperamental. It refuses to come on at once and blue screens, or it just locks up for long periods on graphics intensive tasks. Bumping it too hard causes it to go to sleep. Corroded connectors, worn capacitors and not enough memory really. We strip it, clean the RAM and Graphics connectors and fans and put everything together again and it will be (more or less) fine for a while. In the end though it is a 10 year old machine being asked to do much more than it can handle.
