Assessment of Neonatal Care Capabilities in Uganda

I am a pediatric surgery researcher and will be traveling to Uganda this fall to work on a project addressing the neonatal needs of the country. Despite many improvements in newborn survival around the world, care for sick babies, and especially those in need of surgery, remains quite poor. For example, there are some conditions with 100% survival in the US with less than 5% survival in Uganda. My research team and I believe that with this needs assessment, we can better inform the local government as well as the international community about how best to direct available resources.

Basically, we're helping save babies in Africa.
