SHORT DOCUMENTARY: Ask the World

What is it?

Ask the World is a documentary short movie series in two episodes, composed of street interviews recorded in different places of the World: from city streets to nice beaches, from vacation locations to working places. In the movie people from all over the world are asked the same questions: in this Part 1, “How the world will change in 30-50 years?”.

The faces of people is a leitmotif in the movie. These faces we miss now in real life, as well as touch, smell and tête-à-tête conversation. Their answers, despite the place, colour of skin, age or language, show how different we can be but at the same how similar.

Now, when our everyday life has been taken by Covid, the statements of people have taken on a different context. Some of them become a self-fulfilling prophecy. I fall into that pandemic year 2020 with a camera too.

Just for a while to have a comparison.

Why I did it.

I used to travel. I love to do it, especially I love meeting other cultures and people. Around 2010, during one of my journeys, I put out my camera and ask the questions to a person by case for the very first time. My interlocutor’s face turned strange. That is how the project has begun. Wherever and whenever I travelled, I interviewed and filmed people. In the movie, I travel with camera to beautiful landscapes of the World, its colourful streets, food on the markets and noisy people.

What I need.

The big amount of recordings is already finished. There were made between years 2010-2020. Now the money is needed to finish the post production and to pay for small web advert campaign to promote the series. I will be grateful if you can join this action and support my project. Ask the World together.

I also want to create a Part 2 of the series of this Project which will be dedicated to life.

About the author of the Project

I am a professional photographer and filmmaker from Warsaw, Poland.

I have worked for several years with International Culture Festival in Warsaw which gave me a deeper look into other cultures. The contact with over 400 artists from countries all over the World inspired me to the World wide Project. To Ask the World Project.

In 2017 a series of 4 movies promoting City of Warsaw with my movie „Love by Chance „ was awarded on International Tourism Film Festival in Nova de Gaia in Portugal with special award of the City.
