I sincerely thank you for taking the time to read this! We are a family living in great distress. Our distress is for our 8 year old son who has severe idiopathic scoliosis.
I am his mom, Noeline. I have the same condition and was operated on when I was 14 years of age. The only option then were Harrington rods, screws and bone grafts to fuse my entire spine. My idiopathic scoliosis wasn't as progressive as my little son's which means we are running out of time fast.
We tried bracing but his curves don't allow for effective treatment with a brace. Henk does not tolerate the brace at all. He is a very busy, athletic boy, and the brace restricts him completely. Apart from being indescribably uncomfortable and hot, it also has a very negative effect on the mind and spirit. I wore one too. I remember.
We are however having alternative treatment on a weekly basis, and the treatment seems to be stalling the progression somewhat at this stage. Henk recieves BSR (Body Stress Release) once a week. BSR does seem very promising. Should this therapy permanently reverse Henk's scoliosis, I would like the opportunity to use the funds raised on this page, to become a BSR practitioner myself, and help others in our position.
A new ground breaking scoliosis corrective surgery, ASC, is changing the lives of many children stricken with scoliosis. Simon Cowell recently blessed a contestent of America's got Talent, by paying for her ASC scoliosis surgery.

The contesent is a dancer. Any other type of surgery would have ended her dreams and career as a dancer. Thanks to the ASC method and Simon Cowell's great gift, her life continues as normal. The ASC surgery allows for the spine to remain mobile forever. Other surgeries purposely fuses the spine, and with other surgeries the spine fuses as a side effect of the surgery. Spinal fusion has many dangerous side effects that can be avoided all together by opting for ASC surgery. hhttps//orthoinfo.aaos.org/en/treatment/spinal-fus...
The MAGEC ROD sugery is our only other surgical option. This method is highly unstable with many reported failures.
The America's got talent contesent recieved the same procedure, ASC surgery, that we so desperately want to make available to our son. The surgery is performed only in Philadelphia, America, by one team of doctors, known as Dr's ABC, from the Institute of spine and scoliosis.
We live in South Africa. We will need to pay for the procedure, hospital costs and accommodation, food and traveling costs for a family of four. If we are unable to raise adequate funds, my son and I will have to travel alone. It would be a great comfort to be able to have his dad and his brother with us though.
The ASC (Anterior Scoliosis Correction) method that they have developed, and performed successfully over 300 times, has only recently been approved by the USDA, and most medical aid's aren't on board yet. We are praying that our international medical aid will come to the table to cover the costs for the procedure and his hospital stay. This will take another miracle, seeing as our international medical aid excludes any medical treatment in the USA. Should our international medical aid decide to help our son, it will be a very welcome exception to the rule! Should this happen, I will adjust the amount that we are trying to raise on this page.
Should his BSR treatment fail, Henk could need the surgery within the next 6 months.
Your help will change everything for a very bright young boy.
Thank you for opening your hearts to us.
