Funds for fences. It’s for the Kids!

The 2019-2020 school year is about to start and we would love your help for a project we are trying to complete for our students.

Pura Vida School of the Arts offers a Mother's Day Out program for kids ages 2 and up. The first day of school is August 26th. We run the same number of days as the local public schools. In addition to this, we are starting an After School Program for school age children.

Before Pura Vida School of the Arts (PVSA) was created, we were first Pura Vida Fitness--born from a vision to reach and develop the mind, body, and spirit wellness of our community through fitness, nutrition, yoga, and unique aerial classes using silk hammocks and bungees.

Through our Mother's Day Out and After-School programs we wish to do the same thing with our KIDS and families in our community also.

Research shows that children engaged in Art, Music, and Movement have shown improved academic success and an increase in mental wellness and confidence. And PVSA is dedicated to providing opportunities to do just that.

Our Mother's Day Out program will not only provide a needed break for moms or parents to take care of their own personal needs and refill their mental and emotional cups, but we will be integrating the Arts into the activities and experiences to teach the hidden curriculum of confidence, creativity, interpersonal and intrapersonal skills. Music, Art, Drama, Exercise, Yoga, and of course play will be a part of their year that awaits them. .

We are also excited to offer our new licensed After-School program to our community. A schedule of options will be provided to parents to decide with their child which programs they wish to participate in those crucial two hours after school. Our week will consist of class options including Art (Drawing and Painting skills), Dance (mostly hiphop but not exclusively), Music (vocal and instrumental), Fitness and Wellness (physical fitness, yoga, nutrition activities), tutoring, and the formation of a community youth choir for which we will be seeking opportunities to perform for local events in our community. We will also have a session option that is less a specific skill focused, but where they can get homework help, make crafts, participate in enrichment-based STEM-type centers that are engaging and fun), work on puzzles, play board games, etc. These activities will be guided and monitored by caring staff members who will be looking for opportunities to engage conversation that will encourage positive communication, social skills, and confidence development. New friends in a different environment, positive conversation with trusted and understanding adults, and development of new skills can contribute immensely to the mind, body, and spirit wellness of our youth.

Where does the need for a fence come in? Children need outside time for fresh air and creative play. And needless to say, they need to do it in a safe and secure environment. Our Mother's Day Out outside play time will include gardening, bubbles, messy activities, water play, and more. As far as for the After-School children, drawing lessons or painting under the pergola, one-on-one tutoring and even music instruments and/or board games may sometimes be taught and enjoyed outside in the afternoon hours. Helping us build this fence will enable all the activities we are describing and the sooner we reach this goal, the sooner we can begin construction!
