Campaign for financial support of court costs for the appeal of ENEKEM (Union of Art teachers) to STE (Council of State ) , regarding the abolishment of art courses in the General Lyceum (high schools) οf Secondary Education.
€3,090.00raised of €3,000.00 goal
In June 2019, the Minister of Education of N. Kerameos, without any scientific and pedagogical documentation, abolished the art lessons from the General Lyceums of the country. (2 of these courses are special courses examined nationwide)
Not only did she not inform the educational community about this unjustifiable abolition, but also distorted the truth through digital and print media. Within the context of Art Teachers' Struggle, dozens of protests, events, demonstrations ,videos and information websites have taken place since the summer, despite the fact that as a field of education we have been excluded from the mass media. The scientific body representing the branch of Art Teachers (ENEKEM) has appealed to the Council of State with a request to repeal the Ministerial Decision due to unconstitutionality.
If as a citizen:
- Are you worried about the course that (education) is taking in the country…
- Do you believe in global and comprehensive education through a variety of cognitive stimuli?
- Do you believe that the arts promote the awareness of expression and intelligence of adolescents, create introspective reflections and answers in a democratic context?
- Do you recognize that teaching and contact with the arts shapes a personality, that respects diversity (promotes values) and comprehends history and culture globally so that it is capable of producing and preserving civilization.
We need your financial support in order to cope financially with our legal battle.
The trial of the case at STE (Council of State) is scheduled for beginning of April, 2021. We will inform in time for our necessary presence outside the premises, as well as for a possible postponement of the trial.
