ART SPACE FOR ALL ARTISTS IN ATHENS GREECE

Hallo from Greece ,we are a small group of artists we have created an art studio and exhibition space in Kerameikos ,the art centre of Athens in order to help ourselves and all artists out there who are trying to survive through their work by giving them a space to exhibit at a time of great financial difficulty due to austerity and an ongoing crisis of 9 yrs!

As you can imagine artists and especially street and outside artists are getting the worst of this financial war as exhibition spaces are not cheap.

We have opened a beautifull space with all recycled materials and all the recources we have,it took us 6 months of hard work and we had the opening night in October which was a big success.

Since weve managed to keep going with artists paying a minimal fee for running costs or whatever they can.

We are now doing art classes for children that are going through a hard time financially with no means to get paints and while parents are working with no means for baby sitting!

We will exhibit their work in June where all income can go to them.

We have no funding from anywhere, weve done it all by ourselves out of the necessity and determination to carry on been what we are...artists! and to help as much as we can our community of homeless people by doing art shows and offering half of what we make.

We need more tables and chairs for the workshops ,and paints, canvasses ,all art materials ,and to make some changes to the space to finish it off properly.with lights ,a littke fridge and ac as it gets really hot in Athens, we also must make promotional material like posters,cards ,flyers and some internet exposure if we can

Greece is not cheap and with the lowest income and highest tax in Europe.its difficult to do anything but we did against all odds .

We ask for the very minimal to cover the needs of the space before the season begins and we will return the kindnees either with art or participation or both!
