Around the World in 106 Days! – A Study Abroad

Semester at Sea is exactly what it sounds like. Students are on board a ship for 106 days. This ship takes them to different parts of the world, allowing not one country to have an impact but 12 different impacts. This is not just a traveling experience. During these 100 days, students are also on board taking college classes. My goal is to be a part of this voyage and to experience parts of the world that are foreign to the United States, specifically Africa and Asia. 

This is an expensive voyage and I am on my own in being able to afford it. I will be doing everything from setting my own money aside, applying for work studies, all the possible scholarships, as well any other financial aide. I have a yearning to learn about the rest of the world, and I don’t know a better place to do it than at Semester at Sea. As a Theater major, I yearn to put into practice the different cultures in theater I have learned about. Everything from the Japanese Noh Theater to the Indian Katakali Theater. My passion is in this realm, and I know of no better way than to experience and learn about all the theater traditions out there than by simply experiencing it. I thrive to know more and to expand my knowledge. 

The money in this fundraiser will be towards this trip. The money raised will help me afford this trip on my own as my parents will not be helping me by any means. I work two jobs and almost everything I earn from those jobs goes towards this voyage. I say almost everything because I still need to pay for other living purposes, such as gas, car insurance, ect.  For this trip, I am aiming at the least expensive cabin which also covers everything on board - classes, food, room and board and so forth.
