Agnes Lacap, or "Arlene" to family and friends who are like family, is battling lung adenocarcinoma stage 4 with metastasis to the mandible (jaw bone). She was diagnosed and treated for tuberculosis in February 2018 when a lung mass was found incidentally on x-ray and was then biopsied. Treatment for TB took 6 months, and she was cleared, until she experienced intractable dizziness in June 2018. On August 2018, right before her 58th birthday, she was diagnosed with brain metastases, causing the dizziness. She underwent radiation therapy for the nodules in the brain, after which she experienced drastic mood and personality changes for five months. On February 2019, a mass on her jaw started to grow and infiltrate the bone, eventually impairing her eating. She sought alternative treatment for the subsequent months; however, the mass on her jaw resulted in bleeding episodes and pain. She then underwent surgery to debulk the tumor on her jaw at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center; however, the lung tumor has grown in size.
Arlene and her family have been overwhelmed by the love and support from relatives and friends. As she continues to battle this cancer, we are appealing for financial assistance as she undergoes radiation therapy for the remaining jaw tumor, chemotherapy for the lung tumor, and laboratory tests. Arlene is celebrating her 59th birthday this month. Her husband passed away four years ago due to complications of esophageal cancer; the treatment of which caused financial burden and loss of their home.
We'd be truly grateful for monetary help but would also appreciate your prayers and thoughts as we go through this ordeal. Any contribution will go a long way to help with everyday expenses on top of her treatment and lab tests. Though she surrenders everything to the Lord, she believes nothing is impossible with Him and still hopes to see her grandchildren one day.
