What is the Concept?

The name of the concept the inventor has chosen is Ari Track, although she is open to the possibility of a name change and reserves final approval regarding the official name. Branding is important, of course, but the concept is the official foundation for the invention and any forthcoming applications of the invention.

The concept Ms. Sierra has envisioned is tracking system that incorporates three parts. The first is a tracker bracelet that would be worn by the child or children. The second would be a similar bracelet or watch worn by the parent. Both would be linked to a mobile device application on the parent’s phone so the child’s location can be monitored at all times. A further, more detailed description of the functionality of this invention will be elaborated upon in the following segment.

How Does it Work?

Ms. Sierra has been designing and documenting this concept for quite some time. She has several “mock-up” drawings of the invention, which have provided the inventor with a sense of how the concept will appear once brought into production. This is beneficial for making any necessary modifications and revisions for improvements; thus promoting a more satisfactory and overall accommodating product.

As currently designed in the technical drawings and 3-D models, the invention has unique features not presently available in the marketplace. Although the system has not yet been engineered and is still in the 3-D developmental stages, an explanation of its functionality is as follows:

Ari Track provides an easy and convenient way to monitor the location of a child or children. The parent would purchase this tracking device as a decorated rubber/plastic bracelet to be worn on the child’s wrist, and which is linked to a similar bracelet worn by the parent. The GPS device embedded in the child’s bracelet is waterproof, shockproof and rechargeable. It will be able to relay a signal in extreme temperatures and even when submerged in water. After purchasing the bracelets, the parent would also download an application onto his or her smart phone, which is then linked to the tracking device on the child. Parents can customize each child’s range for wandering using the app. When the child exceeds that limitation, the parent would be alerted immediately with a vibration or loud ringing of the phone. The app can be customized for tracking and storing information about more than one child. These bracelets would be available in a variety of fun colors and designs, so children will want to wear them.

What Problem Does it Solve?

The unique features of this invention will provide the following benefits for parents and care providers of young children everywhere:

  • Provides a discreet and simple way to monitor the location of a child
  • May also be used for monitoring the location of adults with special needs, who may wander away
  • While this bracelet is worn on a child’s wrist, parents and/or care providers can monitor the child’s location via an app on their mobile device
  • When children are too little to speak or unable to communicate effectively, parents and care providers will still be able to find them quickly when they wander away
  • Parents and care providers will gain invaluable peace of mind when spending time in public places with their children.

Marketing

Ms. Sierra envisions her product appealing to the multitudes of consumers who are parents of young children. Today’s society is always seeking new and better ways to ensure the safety and well-being of our children, and this is precisely why this product is being developed. Use of the tracking device and the accompanying app will make it easy for parents to monitor their child’s location at all times and to find a child quickly who has wandered away.

The markets are extensive for an innovative product like Ari Track, as consumers everywhere will appreciate the benefits and convenience of using this product. The tracking device will be available where children’s products are sold, including Babies R Us and Toys R Us. Best Buy, Radio Shack, and other stores specializing in the sale of electronics as well as many general supply retailers, like Target and Wal-Mart, would also sell this product. The app linked to the tracking device would be available from a website accessible to those who have purchased the tracking device. The Internet provides an additional important platform for the advertising and marketing of this innovative product with many retail sites as well as sites for informative videos and blogs.

Ms. Sierra wishes to leave the market open for subsequent variances and possibilities that could improve the feasibility and marketability of this product.

Inventor Profile

We have all read the stories about missing children that end tragically, and this is why we panic when our own child disappears in a public place. Toddlers and many children tend to wander off when visiting malls, public parks, amusement parks, or when playing alone in their own back yards. According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, in 2013, there were 462,567 entries for missing children under the age of 18 to the FBI’s National Crime Information Center. According to the posted information, the first three hours are the most critical when trying to locate a missing child. Parents should always keep an eye on their children, but often this is impossible. Being a creative problem solver and single parent with three young children, Jasmine Sierra has designed a new product to track children, so if they wander away, their stories will not end tragically.

Ms. Sierra has teamed up for the development of this project with Idea Design Studio, and together they have used their collaborative experience to transform this idea into a marketable platform. The inventor passionately feels a sense of pride about this concept and believes that it deserves immediate attention. Because of the great market that exists for such a concept, she wholeheartedly believes in the positive impact its development and production will have on individuals and the market(s) to which it will be promoted.
