We decided to do this crowdfunding due to our own experiences with regards to people who suffer from some form of mental illness. People suffering from depression or are bipolar or even schizophrenia, some are not able to secure stable jobs and so forth.

As for me, I suffer from schizophrenia and anxiety. I have tried to hold down jobs after leaving the teaching profession but my anxiety has always gotten the better of me and usually I would have to quit. This is also true for my cousin who is suffering from bipolar and depression.

Thus, due to our failed attempts to get stable good paying jobs to help support our families, my husband and I came up with this project. Another reason is because help from charities or government are rather few, even if there were, they are very difficult to apply for and get approved.

This project is intended to financially help people like my cousin and myself, also those with mental illness.

Our project is a combination of aquaponics and a mini deli kitchen. It will made to be self sustaining with its own operation power supply. Made to be able to generate it's own power to run the water pumps, water filters, aeration pumps and so forth to provide for a good aquaponics system 24/7.

A deli kitchen is included to provide food for the needy, especially those suffering from mental illness and to increase profits for the operation expenses. Any extra profits from sales will also be distributed to some patients from the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) for a start. In future, as we grow this business, we intent to try to provide for most in and out patients from IMH that are unable to provide for themselves or their family. By doing so, we hope to lighten the burdens of both the family and the patient.

To be realistic, due to the amount of patients, which we think could be large, we will work with IMH. We intend to ask IMH to provide us with a list of patients that urgently needs some form of financial assistance.

The idea of this project, is not only to grow organic healthy vegetables, fruits, herbs, fish and prawns but to also to cook with our produce. We intend to use the deli kitchen to cook up healthy and nutritious meals. Our purpose is to teach and show public the different types of vegetables and greens, cooked in various ways, without the use of artificial flavorings and seasonings. The deli kitchen is also to help reduce wastage of extra produce that have not been sold.

The amount of USD 30,000 is a conservative starting amount, we will for now roll the profits which we get from this small setup. However, if this crowdfunding pulls in more, we will definitely build a bigger system, to cater for more grow beds and tanks of fish and prawns.

When we have raise USD 30,000 we will start the project immediately, and if we are able to raise more than USD30,000, we will get better equipment, more varieties of vegetables, increase number of fishes, prawns, and more helpers for this project.

Please do help us in our cause so that we will be able to help those with mental illness. There are very few organizations that helps people who suffer from some form of mental illness. Not only that, it is also a sad fact that not many in society understand or are tolerant of people with mental illness. Some people in society are also oblivion of the severity and difficulties faced by people who suffer from mental illness.

We do also welcome those who are suffering from some sort of mental illness or families who have someone with mental illness to contact us for future assistance. Should they qualify for assistance, we will most gladly help out.
