April & Tyler’s Creating A Life After Cancer IVF Fund

Tyler and I (April) were married on Aug. 8 2008. After a devastating miscarriage, prior to our wedding, we were so excited to start our lives together and try again for the family we so desperately wanted. Less than a year into our marriage we were struck with the devastating news that I had an unusual form of cervical cancer. My battle lasted almost a year and recovery was even longer. After researching my disease to the point of deserving an honorary degree in pathology and gynecological oncology, advocating for my health and having a rare surgery that saved my life and spared my fertility, our dream of having that family can finally come to fruition...with your help.

While my life saving surgery, a radical trachelectomy, preserved my ability to have children, we need to undergo IVF to do so. After countless doctors appointments and money already spent, it is with great humbleness that we reach out and ask for the help of others achieve our goal of having a baby.

Our fundraising goal of $10,000 is approximately half of what we need to undergo our first cycle of IVF at the San Diego Fertility Center and all it will entail given our special circumstances, which also needs to include a high risk obgyn specialist. We intend to match donations to cover remaining costs.

In addition to achieving our financial goal so Tyler and I can start a family together, it is my personal mission to also use this fundraiser to help continue to raise awareness about cervical cancer. Since my recovery, I have been an advocate for cervical cancer, started my own Facebook page dedicated to helping women by way of offering support, encouragement and information as well had my story used in the media for various cervical cancer campaigns.
