The April Holiday programme
As we know, the first school term has nearly come to an end and soon the April school holidays will be dawning upon us. Unfortunately most children of the Lotus River community - when left unsupervised during the holidays are at greater risk of exposure to substance abuse, drugs, violence and gangsterism.
In order to assist our local community as well as prevent unfortunate incidences from occurring, the Open Door Youth Centre has taken the initiative to host a holiday club programme. The aim of the programme will be to keep the kids positively engaged, entertained and safe which will in turn prevent them from engaging in anti-social and risky behavior.
The programme will be hosted at the Stephen Road Primary School in Lotus River and is scheduled to run from the 03rd – 07th April 2017. This free of charge holiday club programme will also give the working parents peace of mind knowing that their kids are being supervised as well as properly nourished for the week. This coming April, we are expecting to host between 250 to 300 children per day over a five day period. The programme will operate daily from 09h00 to 14h00 and we are hoping to offer the children breakfast, lunch as well as an in-between healthy snack.
So we appeal to you to open up your hearts to the Lotus River children, whom we shall supervise and serve during the first week of the holidays.
We thank you in advance for your Love and Support. Help us to make the April 2017 Holiday Club Programme a great success.
