Apoyando a Miguel Martinez

A Miguel Martínez (n. 1921) se le considera el padre de la trompeta de mariachi. En 1942, se convirtió en el primer trompetista que se integra al Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, donde definió el papel de la trompeta solista dentro del mariachi. Durante sus tres décadas con ese renombrado grupo, dejó plasmado más de 130 películas y centenares de discos con las más consagradas figuras de la canción ranchera. Además, cuando estuvo tocando con el Mariachi México de Pepe Villa, de 1952 a 1953, instauró y popularizó el dueto de trompetas que se sigue usando en el mariachi hasta hoy. Aparte de ser un eximio trompetista, es compositor de muchas canciones populares y piezas instrumentales para mariachi. Su autobiografía, Mi vida, mis viajes, mis vivencias, (CONACULTA, 2012) es único en su género. A los 92 año de edad, el maestro sigue activo en la enseñanza de esta música y pertenece al Consejo Honorífico de la Escuela de Mariachi Ollin Yoliztli Garibaldi. 

Ahora el maestro Martínez necesita nuestro apoyo. A partir del 15 de enero de 2014, se someterá a tres operaciones quirúrgicas para el tratamiento de glaucoma en sus ojos. Por favor, ayúdenos a recaudar $ 4,000 dólares para pagar su cirugía. 

En palabras del mismo maestro Miguel Martínez: "Estimados compañeros y amigos de nuestro folklor, de antemano agradezco con el alma todo apoyo que tenga a bien a enviarme. Mi operación es para los dos ojos que en verdad si necesito. Hoy por mi, mañana por ti. Al que ayuda Dios lo ayuda. Sin mas por hoy, su amigo y S.S. Miguel Martínez Domínguez."

Miguel Martínez (b. 1921) is considered the father of the mariachi trumpet style. In 1942, he became the first trumpet player to join Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, where he defined the role of the solo trumpet  in the mariachi ensemble. During his three decades with this world renowned group, , maestro Martínez's trumpet was featured in over 130 Mexican films, as well as on hundreds of discs with the immortal figures of the canción ranchera. Furthermore, while working with Mariachi México de Pepe Villa, from 1952 to 1953, he introduced and popularized the trumpet duet used in mariachi music today. In addition to being a virtuoso trumpet player, he is also the talented composer of many popular songs and instrumental mariachi pieces. His autobiography, My life, my travels, my experiences (CONACULTA, 2012), is one of a kind. At 92 years of age, the maestro remains active in teaching this music and forms part of the Honorific Council at the Escuela de Mariachi Ollin Yoliztli Garibaldi.

Now, maestro Martínez is in need of our support.  He needs to undergo a three-part eye surgery to commence on January 15, 2014. Please help us raise $4,000 to pay for his surgery.
