SUPPORT TRADITIONAL MIDWIFERY STUDENTS IN BOGOTA, COLOMBIA

The aim of this campaign is to fundraise for collect funds for a scholarship program which will allow talented midwifery students of the Escuela Huytaca by the Mujeres Bachue Foundation to complete the traditional midwifery course. Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic and a very strict and long quarantine and national lock-down here in Colombia, which has eliminated jobs and made life complicated for people, small business owners and entrepreneurs, a number of our students are struggling financially and facing problems with funding their scholar fees, making it difficult to achieve their goal to become traditional midwives,

The students seeking this support are women devoted to learning traditional midwifery practices and contribute through the school to transformational changes to the Colombian maternity health system which all women and birthing people will benefit from.

ABOUT THE MUJERES BACHUE FOUNDATION & ESCUELA HUYTACA
For over 20 years, the Mujeres Bachué foundation has been leading with its practices of traditional indigenous midwifery in Colombia. Based on traditional and ancestral knowledge from of the Muisca community, the foundation is focusing on offering an alternative way of supporting and caring for women during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum.

With its school, the Escuela Huytaca, the Mujeres Bachué foundation has been able to open hubs in various cities throughout the country, offering students to enter the path of traditional midwifery in order to serve women and their families in a respectful and human way.

Making this type of alternative care available to more women is important in a country like Colombia where the national cesarean rate is around 40% and the current medical system does not leave much room for pregnant women to learn about all their options in order to make fully informed choices regarding their pregnancy, birth and postpartum care. Moreover, as part of the global tendency, Colombia does not escape from obstetric violence neither, making it even more important to train more midwives in order to support pregnant women and families and help them experience a positive, respectful and human pregnancy, birth and postpartum time.

WHAT THE FUNDS WILL BE USED FOR
The funds collected through this campaign will be used to cover the tuition of several midwifery students of the Escuela Huytaca/Mujeres Bachué Foundation who are training within the Bogotá hub.


Thanks to your support, midwifery students who are facing financial constraints will be able to follow their call to midwifery, and achieve this life and career goal as traditional midwives. .


Thanks to your support, midwives from all socio-economic backgrounds will be trained through traditional and high level standards so and more pregnant women and families will have the opportunity to be cared for by midwives in a respectful and human way.

APOYA A ESTUDIANTES DE PARTERIA TRADICIONAL EN BOGOTA, COLOMBIA

El objetivo de esta campaña es encontrar patrocinadores para financiar un programa de becas que permitirá a talentosas estudiantes de partería de la Escuela Huytaca (que pertenece a Fundación Mujeres Bachue) terminar su formación de tres años. Por causa de la pandemia de Covid-19 y su larga y estricta cuarentena, en Colombia muchos trabajos han sido eliminados y la vida en general se ha vuelto complicada para pequeños negocios y emprendedores. La mayoría de estudiantes están luchando económicamente y afrontando problemas en relación al pago de su formación, siendo así difícil que puedan alcanzar la meta de convertirse en parteras tradicionales.

Los estudiantes que buscan este apoyo son mujeres dedicadas al aprendizaje de practicas de partería tradicional y contribuyen a un proceso de transformación de la sociedad Colombiana y su sistema de salud y maternidad que beneficiara a todas las mujeres y todos los que nacerán.

SOBRE MUJERES BACHUÉ / ESCUELA HUYTACA

Durante más de 20 años, la fundacion Mujeres Bachué a estado liderando prácticas de parteria tradicional indigena en Colombia. Basándose en el conocimiento ancestral de la comunidad Muisca. La fundación se enfoca en ofrecer una manera alternativa de apoyar a mujeres durante el embarazo, nacimiento y postparto

Con la Escuela Huytaca, la fundacion Mujeres Bachue ha sido capaz de abrir centros de estudio en varias ciudades del pais, ofreciendo a estudiantes entrar al camino de la parteria tradicional para servir a mujeres de una manera respetuosa y humana.

Hacer que este tipo de atencion alternativa este disponible para más mujeres es importante en un pais como Colombia, donde la tasa nacional de cesáreas es de alrededor del 40%, y el actual sistema médico no deja mucho espacio para que las mujeres embarazadas aprendan todo sobre sus opciones para hacer decisiones completamente informadas sobre su embarazo, parto y salud postparto.

Ademas, como parte de la tendencia global, Colombia tampoco escapa de la violencia obstétrica, haciendo aún más importante formar a parteras para apoyar a mujeres embarazadas y sus familias, y de esta misma manera ayudar a que tengan una experiencia positiva, respetuosa y un embarazo, parto y postparto humanizado.

¿CUAL SERA EL USO DE LOS FONDOS ?

Los fondos recolectados durante esta camapaña serán utilizados para cubrir la matrícula de las estudiantes de parteria de la fundacion Escuela Huytaca/Mujeres Bachué que estan siendo formadas en la sede de Bogotá.

Gracias por su apoyo, estudiantes de parteria que enfrentan restricciones financieras serán capaces de seguir su llamado a la parteria y lograr la meta de esta vida y carrera como parteras tradicionales.

Gracias a su apoyo, parteras de todos los transfondos socio-económicos serán formadas mediante estándares tradicionales y de alto nivel, asi mas mujeres embarazadas y familias tendrán la oportunidad de recibir el cuidado de parteras en una manera respetuosa y humana.
