We, the Apostolic Youth Group, are a Christian youth group that is based in St. Maroun’s Parish in the Holy land, Israel. We have around 130 members, aged 6-35. Our group is divided into three main subgroups: the Knights (ages 6-14), the Pioneers (ages 15-16), and the Youth (ages 17+).
We are headed by the High Committee, which comprises 12 members, among whom are a priest, Fr. Sandy Habib, and a sister, Sr. Vivianne Malouf. The High Committee is assisted by the Youth Committee and the Pioneers Committee, each of which comprises five members.
Our Youth Center is open Thursday through Sunday, and we hold different activities every week. Among these activities are workshops on the Catechism of the Catholic Church on Thursday evenings, meetings for each subgroup on Friday evenings, vespers (evening prayers) on Saturdays, and the Holy Mass on Sundays.
We strive to upgrade our Youth Center and make it active on a daily basis, so that our children and youth would find a secure place to go to whenever they want to meet. It is noteworthy that Jish is a small village of about 3,000 people and that our Youth Center is the only youth center in the village. Upgrading it can mean that our youth will enjoy spending time at it and will benefit from it. Currently, we have one billiard table, two foosballs, and a TV. We would like to have some more facilities, including the following:
1. Sporting facilities: two portable basketball systems ($580), a volleyball net set ($300), and two soccer goals ($579).
2. Commercial Espresso machine ($1,681)
Our facilities are intended to serve, not only the members of our Youth Group, but also the parishioners in our church, as well as parishioners from other parishes that we host.
We appreciate your generous help, and we pray that God would reward you abundantly.
