Anya's Stargazers are proud to support Anya Waugh, wheelchair racer.
Anya is a marvellous example of what you can achieve through passion and dedication, and that you are never too young to follow your dreams.
Anya is 11 years old and was born with Spina Bifida. After watching the 2012 Paralympics she decided she wanted to try wheelchair racing. In her first year of racing she became the fastest u11 in the country.
In 2016 Anya finished her third year of racing still the fastest u11 in the country and dreams of one day qualifying for the Paralympics.
Anya was officially classified in November as a T54 wheelchair racing athlete and her journey towards qualification for Tokyo 2020 begins now.
It was Anya's very proud Grandad who brought her to my attention and I was so impressed Anya's dedication to her sport that I wanted to help raise some funds to help support her ongoing training. So far it hasn't been possible to get sponsorship due to Anya's young age so all her equipment, training and competing costs have been funded by her family, some small grants and the generosity of friends.
I called on my friends in the cake community to help and Anya's Stargazers was born. Our aim is to shine a spotlight on this amazing, inspirational young lady, and to raise funds to help support her through the coming year and help her achieve further greatness.
Any funds raised would not only see Anya able to continue her regular training and provide her with the equipment she needs but would help her family start building a dedicated training room at home which would have a set of rollers and other gym equipment which would help Anya train at home.
