ON JUNE 5 2015 at 3:39pm I GAVE BIRTH TO A 5LBS 13OZ BABY BOY.IT WAS THEN WE SAW SOMETHING THAT WOULD CHANGE OUR LIVES FOREVER. HIS LEFT ARM AND HAND WAS DEFORMED. THIS IS BELIEVED TO BE CAUSED BY AN AMNETIC BAND.HE WILL NEED EXTENSIVE AMOUNTS OF SURGERY TO LEAD A NORMAL LIFE.HE NEEDS ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY TO FIX THE BONES IN HIS FINGERS.HE ALSO NEEDS A SKIN GRAPH BECAUSE THE LAYERS OF SKIN DID NOT FORM ON HIS ARM. HE NEEDS PHYSICAL THERAPY AND OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY SO HE CAN HAVE SOME RANGE OF MOTION IN HIS ARM AND HAND.AS OF NOW HE CAN NOT OPEN HIS HAND .(The thought of him not being able to hold his bottle or sippy cup is heart braking)THIS FUND RAISERER WILL HELP COVER MEDICAL EXPENSES BECAUSE SOME OF THE DOCTORS DO NOT TAKE INSURANCE. AND THEY HAPPEN TO BE THE BEST IN THE TRI STATE AREA. WE HAVE A LONG ROAD AHEAD BUT WITH YOUR HELP IT WOULD MAKE IT EASIER. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.

Update: Today 6/23/15 we learn that Antoine has Neonatal Compartment syndrome aswell : A condition in which there is swelling and an increase in pressure within a limited space (a compartment) that presses on and compromises blood vessels, nerves, and/or tendons that run through that compartment. Hence, the function of tissue within that compartment is compromised. Some of the causes of increased pressure in compartment syndromes are trauma (for example, a fracture), too-tight wound dressings or casts, hemorrhage (bleeding) into the compartment, or inflammation (carpal tunnel syndrome, for example).Symptoms of a compartment syndrome include numbness, tingling, pain or loss of movement in an extremity. Sequelae (the lasting effects) can include nerve compression, paralysis, contracture or even death. Prompt surgical treatment if it is diagnosed early is the key to successful management.Treatment is to relieve the pressure; if symptoms are severe or prolonged, surgery may be needed.
