Campaign Story
HHello love once , I'm Ampomah Isaac , 19 years old from Ghana, West Africa. Looking back some years before smoking wasnt part of our culture here but this era of teens have taken smoking as a personal habit and lifestyle which i know is not good because now smoking is the leading cause of preventable diseases in the world.
I have started an anti smoking campaign in my country called Jaishi Youth Initiative , a registered Non Governmental Organization [NGO] . ''Jaishi'' in my dialect means ''Quitsmoking'' and is my dream to change the mentality of the african youth globally with this youth tobacco prevention campaign which seeks to educate at-risk teens about the harmful effects of tobacco use. The goal is to prevent youth who are open to tobacco from trying it and to reduce the number of youth who move from trying with tobacco to regular use.
My objective is to change social norms about the use of tobacco and reduce youth smoking in Ghana.
The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that each year tobacco causes about 6 million deaths (about 10% of all deaths) with 780,000 of these occurring in nonsmokers due to second hand smoke.
I have been to some schools ,church and did a street campaign and the response was great , i believe If i could use this anti smoking campaign to connect with today’s youth, i can use your help reaching as many teens as possible with the truth about tobacco use in my country,
Anyone intrested to be a vonlunteer in this campiagn should email me
Thank you
