Anti-NMDA Receptor Encephalitis Treatment for a Grade 8 Student

Update posted by Francis Lelis On Jan 12, 2020

New Year’s eve gave us a miracle present. Chezka showed a much better improvement. She slowly talked, stood up and walk. No NGT anymore and started taking meds, eating and drinking water orally. Symptoms are all there but became milder. We thank God for his blessings and to all who helped us and continued helping us to raise awareness and funds for her continuous medication. We are forever grateful and in your debt. You are all great! We pray to God bless all of you more! Thank you very much!

2 weeks after Chezka’s IVIG treatment, she’s showing slight improvement in changes to her clockwork behavior. Her agitation’s intensity lower down, she’s now giving eye contact, sometimes she responds to “high five & fist bump” and when her name was called. She sometimes cry, smiling and laughing, and her doctor said it’s also a good sign that her emotions are coming back.

She’s still bed ridden and unable to communicate regularly. She still have the involuntary muscle movements, spasm and orofacial dyskinesia.

Her doctor will continue to give her a month pf steroids.

It’s still a long road for her and for us and its a journey we are willing to do. Your help and support gave strength to us to make the first step. We cannot thank you enough to all your prayers and financial support. May God above bless you and your family 10 folds.

Thank you very much. God bless your heart!

Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully[a] will also reap bountifully. 7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. - 2 Corinthians 9:6-7

We need your help! After struggling with headaches, fatigue, nausea and vision problems and a few referrals between optometrist’s and specialists, Inge Airoldi was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Everyone who knows Inge can testify that she is one of the sweetest humans around with an amazing depth of character, a diagnosis like this is enough to send anyone off their orbit but she has remained incredibly strong and positive as seen in a message sent to her friend group: “……They say it’s gonna be a long process with surgery, chemotherapy, physio and loads more. We are not on a medical aid so it’s gonna cost a lot and we don’t have the money, but I know God will provide. Please pray for me, I’m positive and know I will overcome it, it’s gonna be a journey but I will be a survivor! God will help me through this. Please keep me in your prayers, I love you all so much" On the 31st of October Inge was transported to Cape Town in an ambulance where she will have the tumour removed by an experienced neurosurgeon. At this point it is hard to say the exact amount required but Inge has a long road. However, with prayers, love and financial support she may soon go back to finishing her final school exams, hanging out with her boyfriend and friends and dreaming for the future. If you can donate, please do. We will keep you all updated. Inge is such a stunning human who deserves love and support from far and wide! Chezka right now started slowly showing signs of recovery. There are times that we can now communicate with her. But most times she’s irritated, consistently crying and delusional. Still bed ridden. We still continue to be in contact with her doctors for her daily activities and updates. We still continued to give her the medicines to help her sleep and to lessen her agitations. You may still, please, continue to help her in any ways possible. Happy holidays to everyone. Merry Christmas! Thank you very much.

We were discharged from the hospital 4 days ago and now home for recovery. Chezka still having the symptoms of the a-nmda-re disease. Those are: agitations, involuntary movements, dyskinesia, spasm and still bed ridden. We still feed her thru NGT. However, she now have a constant eye contact. She sometimes responds when asked to smile. Part of her clockwork is crying, laughing and smiling. Her doctor said it’s a sign that her emotions are showing which is good and also a sign of good Imessage. The road to recovery is still long and winding. With your continuous prayers and help, we know there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. We are very thankful to our God in heaven for the guidance, blessings and love that been and being given to Chezka. And also to all of you who’s been there since day 1, to pray to help us for the financing needs. We cannot thank you enough. May our God bless you more 10 times! Please continue to share the awareness of this disease. I hope someday soon, the modern medicine people could develop a vaccine to avoid this illness. Again, thank you very much! Our family love all of you.
