Annie Knee Surgery

On the 09 August 2016 my mom Annie turned 50 years old. With Gods mercy she made it despite the difficulties she faced since childhood. The difficulties of taking normal steps is just a mere fantasy for her.

In her youth days she went for a few operations on her knee, and everything and because funds and money were never availble that time, her knee didn't really heal proper. Meaning since then she is just getting worst by the day. Till the point that the specialists told us that a knee replacement will be the only solution now. Its not nice to see her in pain everyday of her life. Every morning its a struggle to get up every evening its a struggle to get to bed. Still being the best mom she is she still do everything every day. Despite the lots of pain killers that she take on a daily basis, her house work is always up to date. Not a dust ball in a corner, not a spoon out of place. I think a mom like that needs an applause. No matter how harsh the pain, still she do what a mother and housewife must do.

My mom got this joyful, happy go lucky personality theres never a dull moment with her. But the thing that she must drag her leg literally around is getting to her. Shes a woman with a big body, the thing is she started to fall a lot recently. We are just afraid that one day she will fall and it can be worst to the extent that she might break something. Sometimes I can see the urge she got just to walk or play with her grandchildren but even that is impossible for her. But to see her getting up everyday with the same smile on her face , getting to do her business, sorting ouh the household, looking after my younger siblings and still never complain once- is extualy making me sad. Because i know shes hiding a lot of pain with every step she takes.

A knee surgery usually goes along the line of R48 000. But we spoke to specialists and they would be able to do it for her for R26 000. Thats a huge discount and huge light at the end of the tunnel for us. But we are not in that position to reach for that light at this moment - without help.
