About Me!

Assuming you already know who I am, as you've been lead here.. regardless, I'm Anna Lee! I am 19 years old and I'm currently a college student.

I think the word that would overwhelmingly describe me as a person is ambitious. I spend ample time planning, planning, planning my future; I do this to ensure I am able to get to where I want to be one day. I aspire to work in clinical counseling as well as psychological research and treatment development -- I would like to specialize in the treatment of eating disorders. I want to be able to help people out of an awful situation that I can wholly empathize with, and I recognize that this field is under-serviced with limited treatment options. I want to spend my career -- my life -- changing that.

General Information About my Education, Location, and why Ireland?

I am a Psychology Major, Philosophy Minor, at Georgia College & State University. I am presently a Junior and I am taking a full summer course load -- I will be a Senior when I leave for Ireland.

I will be studying in Kildare, Ireland (near Dublin) at Maynooth University! My trip will last from September 11th to December 17th, 2016. Maynooth is in the only "college town" in the entire country, and it is absolutely breathtaking. Not to mention, it offers courses applicable to my studies and happens to be the most affordable option for me.

There are a hundred and one reasons for why I chose this location, and even more for why I chose Ireland. Here are some of the major reasons:
- Ireland is the country from which my family came, and I would love more than anything to be able to immerse myself in its culture and visit historical sites.
- I feel that studying in a different culture will also allow me to better understand a wider variety of peoples, thus allowing me to be better able to provide treatment (to more types of people) when I start my career!
- Most important to me, Ireland was very important to my dad. As long as I can remember, my dad was trying to plan our Ireland trip. I dreamed about it for years, and I still do.. Though I was not able to make that trip with him before he passed away, I want to make this trip in honor of him. I want to be able to go to Ireland and do the things we talked about, for him, for us.

Information About my Financial Situation and Needs

I understand I'm asking for a lot of money, though with great dreams apparently comes a great price. I'm presently scheduled to take out >$10,000 in loans, and even with this great amount, I'll still fall short of some of the costs. I am currently unable to take out any more loans above the amount I already have, so I'm looking to outsource. This is where you come in. The money raised here will go towards purchase of a plane ticket, immigration fees, housing fees, institution and transfer fees, and everyday living costs (AKA groceries).
