About my hopes for this donation
Back in April, my mother was diagnosed with an inoperable form of lymphoma. Because of the type of cancer it is, she is able to go through a series of chemotherapy sessions with the hope of reducing the cancer which has spread to all her major organs and upper legs. This has been a devastating hurdle for our family. I have to say though, my mother has been incredible every single day throughout the long chemo treatments. So incredible. She is so strong and I'm blessed to have her as a mother.
About me & The Cause
I am 28 years old, and the youngest sibling of 5. While speaking to my husband, we wanted to think of a gift we could give my mother. A gift that would last throuh the years. My sweet mom has been working at a small animal shelter in a smaller town in Idaho for about 7 years now. She absolutely LOVES her job. She has the biggest heart for these animals who get dropped off and for the families who must put down a furry member of their own family. She spends money out of her own pocket to provide neat boxes for the ashes of animals for the families, spends extra time with the families, and plays with the animals. Something that I've never seen before at a shelter.
Currently the shelter is over booked. It is always overbooked with animals waiting to be adopted. Due to the lack of funding and small location, she does everything she can to take care of the animals with what she has. She's done so well, but the need is still there to really make a difference. They are really in need of a larger facility, dog and cat beds, toys, food, among other things for these animals.
While undergoing chemo, my mother has been unable to attend to the animals the way she use to due to risk of infection and sickness. So she is only able to work in the front office or out in the field rescuing animals. Even with the high risk, she does it becuase she truly loves her job.
I want to do something to surprise her. Create a larger facility to house the animals, while giving my mother the piece of mind that they are being taken care of while she's going through her own trial. I don't want her to know about this fundraiser. I would like to keep it as secret as i can until i'm able to give a check to the animal shelter with regards to my mother.
Anyone who would be willing to donate, it would be beyond incredible.
I would love to post photos of my sweet mother, however, they are very personal right now with her going throuh chemo, and the risk of her seeing them would be heartbreaking. If you're wondering whether to donate, I would be more than happy to speak with you by phone and send photos and website information to the shelter it would be going to. Every single penny will be donated, and I look forward to updating everyone who donates.
Thank you so much!
