Last year, thanks to the amazing generosity of my friends I went out to Goa India with the charity Mission Rabies whos aim is to halt the spread of this disease into humans with a humane process of neutering and vaccination of stray and pet dogs.
While I was there I came across a local organisation that is engaged in similar work on an ongoing basis, plus caring for sick and injured animals both stray and owned in the Canacona region
I am returning to Goa next month for a holiday, and a little bit of volunteer work at a local school, and I would love to be able to take to the ARC (animal rescue centre) a fistful of rupees as they are always desperate for cash.
Most of their work is done by volunteers, but food, medicines, building upkeep, consumables and vets fees all have to be paid for
Therefore I am asking all you wonderful people to reach into your Paypals and eWallets and spare a few quid for a great endeavour. £10 goes a long way in india, but dry dog food is surprisingly expensive over there.
Of course there are many other causes and charities in need of help, and Indian Animal Welfare may be low on many peoples lists right now, but if you feel you can support me and these guys I will be very grateful indeed
You can see more of the work they do here
