Hi, I am Lana de Jager, owner of K9 Rules.
K9 Rules was born in 2018 when I decided to take my passion for dogs and make it a reality. I have since completed a course in "Advanced Certificate in Puppy Socialization and Training" using positive reinforcement methods that is non-harmful and scientific based studies.
I have 20 years financial corporate background. In 2013 I studied part-time BA Psychology with Criminology as a second major, together with Animal Assisted Therapy. I volunteered with my adopted dog Milo, at various non-profit organisations helping at risk kids train dogs. After a few years this took a toll on my psyche as the odds were really against these kids and the need for greater intervention from our South African government is dire. I took a break altogether and thought, what I could do to make life better for dogs without burning myself out. I decided to tackle the root cause of dog abuse, educating dog owners in responsible pet ownership. That is where K9 Rules was born.
I am passionate about animal welfare and over the years have supported many animal welfare organisations.
Working with a lot of the dog owners in my district (Swartland District, Western Cape, South Africa) I see a huge need for an animal behaviourist, and how much more I still need to learn about dog behaviour.
I would love to fulfil my dream and continue my studies to become a qualified Animal Behaviourist with COAPE South Africa, studying towards a 2 year Diploma in Animal Behaviour.
Please help me fulfil my dream.
Thanking you in advance and much appreciated for your donation towards my further studies.
