Angell Solberg is a 24 year old psychology student who underwent a glomus jugular tumor resection this past March at the University of Minnesota. Angell was diagnosed with this rare type of head/neck tumor in October of 2008,when she was just 19, after years of being misdiagnosed and improperly treated for ear infections. She had her first surgery on Dec. 03, 2008, but unfortunately, MRI scans done last year showed that the tumor was growing back and surrounding Angell's left carotid artery. Surgery was again performed this past March and Angell's left carotid artery, and inner ear had to be completely removed. She has suffered nerve damage in her face, paralysis of the left vocal chord, complete hearing loss in her left ear, and jaw complications due to the extensive surgery. She has also experienced frequent and severe migraines since then, and requires further medical investigation. Her doctor visits, hospital stays, follow up exams, and so forth have all been out of state and requires frequent travel.Since Angell has endured hearing loss, she has been back to the U of M to discuss hearing aid options with an audiology specialist, but unfortunately Angell's current insurance is unable to cover the costs.  All expenses will be out of pocket.  At this time, Angell and her family are requesting help from the public to raise money for Angell's hearing aides, and for travel expenses to and from the U of M for upcoming follow ups.   Thank you all!!
