Campaign Story
On the 7th June we woke up to the smell of smoke. As the winds picked up and flames grew it came closer to my home. I had to quickly evacuate. With my two young girls, dog and Hamster. We went to my parents house dor safety. We arrived around 15.55. The smoke started to thicken around there home within minutes. My Father stepped outside to have a look and came in and said its time to go. We climbed in the car kids and pets . My Mom right behind us. My father said Go I am staying behind .I drove to my Mother in law where she was watching Tv. I shouted to her to open the door as the fire was on her doorstep. We managed to get out just in time. Driving to safety surrounded by fire and smoke. We heard nothing from my father seconds felt like minutes. When he finally arrived he was soet covered sopping wet and clothes torn. You could see the helplessness and defeat in his eyes he went to my mother holding her close and sobbed. For the first time in my life I saw my father cry holding my mother saying " I am sorry I tried everything to save our home."
There home where memories were made , special times spent was gone in 4 min. Thats all it took to take everything within its path and engulf it. Along with my Mother in laws home . We had to evacuate many times again during the course of that evening. But as a family we are here and thankful to be alive and together. My father put up a brave fight he stayed wetting carpets walls inside the home anything he could do to save it. He fought the fire until he realized there was nothing more he could do he escaped for his life through thick smoke hitting trees and getting over neighbours walls to safety.
They left with just the clothing on there back. They have lost everything.
Every memory special moment shared the dream home they built together.
I am asking if at all possible for anything for my family it would be appreciated by any means at all even if you just share there story .They are to proud to ask for help and assistance.
And like a Phoenix as it rises above the ashes. My mother and Father have too after losing everything are now helping sort food water and clothes helping other families who too lost there homes.
Its been very humbling and I thank everyone for there kindness and support through all of this. We are thankful for all you have done and am grateful to have each other.
