Starting Schools in India

I am Dr. Darrell Ray, PhD, Pastor of Liberty Bible Baptist Church located in Louisville, KY. Our Church has been active In helping to plant local, indigenous Churches in India. At present we have a Fellowship of 51 Churches established there at this time. 29 of these Churches were begun in 2015. The local government has encouraged us to start English Speaking Schools in our Churches. They have stressed that they realize we will be teaching from the Bible and teaching Christianity to the students. They have promised not to interfere with this.

Since they wish the schools to be fully taught in English, it makes for a great opportunity to recruit teachers from the United States. I am needing funding to reach out to Education majors at all of our Bible Colleges to encourage them to consider committing their lives to India's children. If we can get these teachers to commit and to get them approved through a missions agency, they can go on deputation to raise their own financial support. In their support, they could make provision to cover the costs of curriculum, books, materials, etc. that would be needed in the classes they would teach. This would eliminate the two highest costs of conducting a school: Labor and curriculum/books. The only real expense we would have would be in our buildings. Since most Churches have buildings, we will have reduced costs there as well.

There is not public school funding in India beyond age 14.. Private Schools still possess 40% of the student population at this elementary level. It totally dominates the after 14 year old secondary education.; If a child goes to school, their parents must pay the tuition. We will be able to keep tuition low, therefore helping more students to be able to attend school. An education is precious in order to improve one's lot in life. Will you help in this?

Our main effort then, is to recruit teachers and begin the schools. We are HOPING that with this funding, that over the next five years, we can see a school started in each of our current 51 Churches. We also hope to have schools starting in any other Churches that might have been started in the meantime. We will only be limited by the number of teachers we can attract to fill the teaching positions. Can we send 500 to 1,000 teachers? Sure we can. What kind of impact can that number of teachers have in their communities? HUGE. Let's make a difference. Please support us in our campaign so make this program a full reality.
