An Android Tablet

I am currently in college in US, studying Mechanical Engineering. Last year, i broke my laptop and I cant afford a new one. My coursework requires me to have one, but it is really expensive for me and i dont expect anyone to give me money for a laptop either. Hence, i am looking to buy a tablet to make-do for the absence of a laptop. Any sort of help would be appreciated.
