Amy’s volunteering trip to Tanzania

January 2019 I am travelling to Tanzania for three weeks. During my time in Tanzania I will gain first hand experience and insight into the Tanzanian health care system by volunteering at the local government hospital. This hospital is 24/7 and treats around 50-80 patients a day. This hospital also has a strong maternity ward and around 500 new-born's are delivered each month. The main cases treated at the hospital are malaria, pneumonia and TB. I will get the chance to work alongside staff in different departments within the hospital. This experience will come with challenges due to the standards of facilities and limited equipment available, it will be a big eye-opener but I'm sure at times very rewarding. I want to challenge myself by getting involved as much as possible to make a positive difference and learn as much as possible towards my future career as a children's nurse. I am hoping to fund raise some money to help me make the funds to go on my trip, anything given is much appreciated. I will be making a blog/video of my experience to share when I return.
