AMUMA: Homegrown Music Emergency Fund

AMUMA is 22 Tango Records’ effort to create a source of emergency funds to support and assist local musicians and music professionals who are deeply impacted by the COVID-19 Crisis.

Local events, shows and concerts are the lifeblood of the Cebu music scene. Without these activities, there would be no contemporary music industry that makes the collective culture of Cebu vibrant.

Objectives:

• Most local musicians rely on their performance earnings as a means to invest in the creation of new music. In almost a decade, our musicians have had a steady flow of income through local music events. In fact, a handful of them were able to fund their own releases. With the cancellation of all upcoming events, the placement of social distancing, and the prohibition of gatherings, musicians have lost the capacity to earn. In effect, they can no longer fund the production of their music creations leaving them without new music to release and make available for digital streaming. AMUMA hopes to provide assistance in making sure musicians can continue to create and have their music professionally produced for a quality release.
• The back-end support and the homegrown music champions who set-up, execute and promote these events are also tremendously impacted by this crisis. With all events and productions on hold, the event staff and the production team have lost their income as well. These people are the backbone of such events that provide a platform for local music appreciation and consumption. AMUMA hopes to create unique music related opportunities and financial assistance for these professionals.
