We created this page for Al, our good friend, classmate, orgmate, professor and colleague. He was diagnosed with diffuse large B cell lymphoma just last week. It's a malignancy of the lymph nodes and needs to be treated with chemotherapy. Al will have to undergo 6 cycles of chemotherapy, with the first cycle starting at the end of this month. Estimated cost is 1 million pesos, with chemotherapeutic drugs making the bulk of the cost. We know that Al is the current head of the Food Science Department. He already achieved a lot, garnering a lot of awards in the process. He is very instrumental in raising the standards in Food Technology in the country, dedicating his life to the academe, mentoring and educating students and raising the bar of food technology through research.

Thus, it came as a shock to find that Al has no medical insurance or health card provided as work benefit. Al will be using his life savings and will need to make a loan. And despite all these, it may still not be enough to fund his entire treatment. There will be days that he might not be able to work. With limited resources, Al needs our help so he can survive this disease and continue his good work. Any donation for Al's treatment would be greatly appreciated. All funds raised will go directly to his medical costs. We are sharing this post only among the UP Food Technology community and I hope you would do the same.

On behalf of Al and his family, we thank you for your support, love and prayers.
