Have you considered being a benefactor to a great conservation project in the deep cloud forests of Honduras? Well here is your chance, I am a Durham University student studying towards a Masters in Biosciences with the determination for a PhD with a particular interest in genomics. So I have taken upon the challenge and privilege of joining an expedition with world leading scientists to carry out essential research for the conservation and sustainability of the great Cloud Forests of Cusuco National Park in Honduras!
The expedition will take place in the summer of 2016 and will provide me with a unique and incomparable experience as a research assistant in a popular and important field, whilst providing further education into genetic analysis and furthering my theories of genetic alteration for applications ranging through all walks of life. The work carried out whilst I am there will be published to provide critical conservation management and allow me the chance to boost my CV to stay ahead in a competitive field that is growing ever faster by the day thanks to truly incredible discoveries.
The trip itself is spread over a 4 week period with base camps and guidance provided by Operation Wallacea, an expeditions and research organisation. Your generous donation will be used to pay for the flights to reach Honduras, vaccinations, the specialized equipment, training and, of course, food. The ultimate goal of the expedition is to create a conservation and sustainability plan for this highly important but secretive area, which surprisingly little is actually known about.
To add to the publicity and educational benefits of the journey, I will record our progress from the touchdown of the wheels in Honduras to the last call for takeoff on the return journey, collating the footage on my return to create a web episode series to inspire and educate anyone who is interested in how we helped to change the world a little bit at a time.
I have always lived by the motto “Nothing is Impossible” and driven myself to be the best I can be, but now I need a little help to get me that bit further. I have a target of £3120 and any donation you could make would be an incredible contribution to this adventure and I just hope I can share my excitement with you!
All the best to everyone
