Allergy Medication for Dougal

My name is Dougal and i am 12 years old. I have suffered with allergies since I was a puppy. The vets say I have atopic dermatitis and that there is no cure.

My Dad, who died in 2015, tried everything to make me better but nothing really helped me. All day I would scratch, rub my chin on the floor and I was always going to the vet for some medical issue or the other. It was only recently that the vet introduced Mom to a new medication that became available in South Africa. One week on Apoquel and I was like a new dog. It made a huge difference in my life. I finally have some peace. My recurrent ear infections and skin rashes and persistent frantic paw chewing have stopped. I still chew on my paws a little and have an itchy chin occasionally but the medication has really helped me live a better life. At times I could see Mom felt helpless and probably pondered that i would be better off if she sent me to be in heaven with my Dad who i loved with all my heart. But she does everything she can to help me.

Unfortunately, the medication is extremely expensive and Mom just cannot afford it anymore. Mom gives me half a tablet per day to control my itching. By morning, once the meds have worn off, I start chewing on my paws but i stop soon after i get my tablet.
