All for one,one for all

If you don't know that iconic line, it's from Battlestar Galactica, and it pretty much sums it up. We have been moving forward as best as possible,I managed to set up an account with the only bank in South Africa that works directly with paypal, and those donations are now in rands in an account, waiting for things to be a little more straightened out. Mom has managed to get a job interview despite the dismissal status, and we are hopeful with that.

On the flip side, last week, exactly one week ago we picked up my cats from the sanctuary they were being housed at. They were meant to just go to the vet's for an appointment. We had been informed that Nebz was not eating properly due to stress, and then that it was because he had an abcsess on a tooth...we could take them to the vet attached to the sanctuary free of charge,we just needed to provide transport. When my mother, driven by a friend, picked them up she was so shocked that she did not even go to the free vet. My long hair Muki was okay, despite being the more neurotic of the 2 he had held up well. My short hair Nebz,my special cat who opened doors and had a small vocabulary of words he liked to yowl, who was born on the same day as me, was not. He was skeletally thin, smelled horrendous, his mouth was hanging open as his tongue was so swollen and sore he could not close it and one nostril was clogged. When I got to the vets she told me that he was suffering from acute renal failure. She said she could not prove what had brought it on as he was almost 13 years old and it may have just been age. I replied I didn't care if we could prove wrong doing,I just wanted to know what the best course of action was for my cat. Unfortunately that best course of action was to put him down. I thought he would be angry at me for what felt like abandonment,or that he would ignore me because he was in pain, but he purred as I held him one last time. He passed very quickly after she injected him.

We left Muki at the vet's,as there is a boarding hotel there for cats, unfortunately due to a mix up at reception he was not booked in for as long as we had planned. I'm going to be able to spend time with him this weekend at another friend's place,I'm staying over to do some paperwork and filing, but after that I need to find him yet another place to stay.

If I didn't know the Cylons went through problems of their own I might become a sympathiser...

Hi guys,we are still here, and still in need of help. With the help of some exceptional friends we are not on the street, but we are still desperately seeking work and a way to get back on track. We are so,so grateful to all our backers so far, please know that every cent you donate will go to getting us back in our own place, and back on track.

If any of you know anywhere that is looking for an exceptional, driven (slightly workaholic) book keeper, please drop us a comment. My mother has over 25 years experience under her belt, and although she may have been dismissed from her previous position she has a wonderful letter of reference from her previous employers sister company for whom she also did work that she can produce to any interested parties. We live in Pretoria,South Africa, but weare willing to relocate anywhere (even overseas).
