On December 16, 2021, super Typhoon Odette (Rai) destroyed homes, uprooted trees, toppled power lines, dumped torrential rain, triggered floods, and left a trail of destruction before exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility. The typhoon’s maximum sustained winds increased from 150 kilometers per hour to 155 km/h with gustiness rose to 190 km/h from the previous 185 km/h.

One of the severely affected provinces is Bohol, Philippines where the typhoon landed twice on Thursday evening. One week after, the entire province is still in blackout out with expected power return by around three months. Mobile phone signal is slowly getting back but the food supply is fast running out including construction supplies for broken homes.

In the small town of Alicia, Bohol, a fifth-class municipality, 99% of the crops and trees were damaged or uprooted. Homes made of light materials were totally-damaged and even the evacuation center where people flocked for safety got partially damaged.

As the batch President of Alicia High School Batch '98, I am knocking at your benevolent hearts to please share some love to the affected families back in our hometown in Alicia, Bohol. We are targeting to help some 300 families so they could at least have some food on the table at these darkest moments. Your cash or in-kind donation will surely go a long way in helping families survive and get back on their feet. God will return your generosity in a hundredfold. Merry blessed Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family. God bless you!
