Alex’s future fund

My daughter Alex is the sweetest most giving little person I have ever met even through everything she has had to deal with over the past years. She has amongst other things a rare autoimmune disease attacking the nerves to her digestive system and organs and robbing her of any kind of quality life. I am asking for your help to give Alex some future security in what will be a very difficult life ahead.

Alex was born a healthy and happy little girl. Only when she turned 10 did some of her symptoms slowly start emerging. Stomach pain, occasionally vomiting, constipation, urinary retention, headaches, joint pain etc.

At the age of 15 she was hospitalised unable to hold down food or water as her entire digestive system had begun to shut down. Over the last years she has spent most of her time in hospital enduring constant pain and discomfort. She is fed liquid feeds through a tube to her small intestine, her bladder doesn’t function at all and she requires the use of a suprapubic catheter ( another tube) and she is now awaiting a ileostomy operation for her dysfunctional bowel. She also requires weekly plasma exchange therapy with daily saline infusions to help reduce other symptoms such as extreme heart rate and plummeting blood pressure which nearly took her life in early 2017. Alex spends half her life in emergencies with either a severe infection, an internal bleed or for some test or procedure.

I cannot explain the pain a parent feels to watch their child suffer. Alex has been through so much a child should never have to experience and she has a long road ahead. She has given up many of the things we all take for granted and lost hope in ever achieving her childhood dreams. It’s not fair and I would give anything to change places with her. It truely brakes my heart to watch what she goes through ever single day.

My wife and I have gone private and public to ever specialist we could find here and interstate and even some in the US and paid for every test imaginable, many 3 times over. We have covered expensive procedures and her daily infusions when the hospitals or Medicare wouldn’t and still don’t and have filled countless hundreds of prescriptions. Everything we have has gone into first getting a diagnosis and then treating Alex’s symptoms. There is no cure or treatment.

I know Alex would never ask for anything but I worry about Alex’s future now and need your help.

Alex gives everything she has to helping other sick kids she has met over the years, calling, writing and visiting them when they need someone who understands what they are going through. She is truely the sweetest most generous and deserving girl you will ever meet. I hope we can give something back to Alex.

Any and all funds raise will go exclusively to Alex.
