Campaign Story
Hello friends, my brother Alex Buulolo is one of the top local surfers in Nias. He has many friends from around the world and is known for his barrel riding skills and his contagious laugh. Last December, Alex was diagnosed with kidney failure. Nias Island is still very primitive when it comes to the medical system, so he has had to travel to Medan multiple times as well as Penang, Malaysia to meet with Specialists. He has been having dialysis treatments every 3 days in Gunung Sitoli Hospital, a 3 hour drive from home. He is 29 years old and has a wife and two young boys under the ages of 3.
His treatment has been hard on him physically and has been getting more and more difficult financially, especially this year with hardly any tourists coming to Nias. The family has made pretty much no business this year at their surf camp, so savings are running low.
Alex really needs a kidney transplant to be able to grow strong again and gain his life back. They will need multiple visits to Medan and Jakarta before this can happen, plus lots of testing and medical checks. A few family members will be looking into whether they are compatible to be able to donate a kidney for Alex. The sooner this can start happening the better.
We are asking for donations in any amount to help pay for Alex's ongoing medical expenses and future medical bills in hopes of him getting a kidney transplant. We all want to see Alex healthy and back surfing again! Please help with whatever you can! Everything is greatly appreciated!

Update on Alex
Update posted by Jostianus Justin Buulolo at 01:37 pmThank you so much to everyone who has donated towards Alex Bu'ulolo's kidney transplant! The whole family is so grateful to all of you! With your help, Alex has had a minor surgical procedure to create a fistula. This is where a surgeon links an artery to a vein, and. . . . .
