My 17 y/o daughter Alexandra Nicole, a very smart and bubbly girl
who loves music and dreams to become a Med Tech when she grows up, was
diagnosed with Chondrosarcoma last December 2017.
Chondrosarcoma is a bone cancer composed of cells derived from transformed cells that produce cartilage.
Her tumor is located on the Thoracic area of her spine. Her condition
originated from Osteochondroma but she was able to undergo operation or
Excision of mass last August 2016 at St Lukes Medical Center. Her tumor
grew back last July 2017 and its now located on her spine and compressed
her spinal cord. She's unable to walk due to her condition.
She was confined last December 2017 but her head physician
advised us that it will cost us 2Million pesos for her operation. Due to
lack of funds, we decided to transfer her to Philippine General
Hospital as a charity patient. She got confined for 2 weeks and had
undergone Core Needle Biopsy. Spine doctors in Philippine General
Hospital advised that my daughter's condition is very complex and they
cannot operate her. They then referred us to the Cancer Institute of
PGH. Her oncologist then recommended 48 Cycles of Chemotherapy and 32
sessions of Radiation Therapy.
She started her chemotherapy session last 30 January 2018 and is now on her 24th cycle. Her radiation started 11 October 2018.
Our family is now raising fund for her chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
1. RadioTherapy treatment costs 2,000 Php per session. She started her radiation therapy treatment 11 Oct 18 and will end 23 November 18. She was able to finish 9 session which was covered by PCSO (Philippine Charity Sweepstakes) and we are now gathering funds for the remaining 23 sessions.
2. Chemotherapy session expenses costs roughly between 2,000 up
to 3,000 per month. This covers the miscellaneous. Miscellaneous fees
would include daily maintainance, diaper, transportation, food expenses)
Chemo medicines would cost between 2,000 to 5,000 per cycle if in case
its not available in the hospital. We would need to by medicines outside
the hospital. Her chemotherapy cycle will end by November 2019.
3. Excision of Mass or the actual operation will cost roughly between 500,000 to 1,000,000 because they will need to put in spinal implants. There's still no date for her operation but hopefully it will be done by next year.
4. Physical Therapy rehab for her leg muscles so that she can walk again will be done as well.
Any amount of donations will be appreciated by my family especially my daughter, Alex.
