Alec's Avengers
A team of “super heroes” have come together to form Team “Alec's Avengers”. and take part in:
The Team

The Mission
The teams’ first mission will be to take part in the Endurer Dash to test their strength, stamina and limits. The Endurer dash is an obstacle race around an 8km course in the Peak District on 26 September 2015.
The team will tackle 7ft walls, monkey bars, commando crawls, a pond dip, fireman’s carry, darkened tunnels, swamps, 10ft A-frames, tyre walls, bale stacks, trial jumps, a muddy water slide and yet more walls
The Goal
The ultimate mission is to raise funding and awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in aid of Alec Syphas and ultimately to support his quality of life. DMD affects Alec’s muscles and they are getting weaker and he is finding it hard to walk / run around with his friends, recently has started to use a wheelchair to enjoy days his out. There is currently no cure for Duchenne so Alec's muscles will continue to worsen, eventually leading to paralysis and death.

On the surface, Alec Syphas is like any other 5 year old: full of imagination, mischief and adventure. Alec loves Superheroes. They play an active role in his imagination, and they are the perfect metaphor for his life. Alec is fighting a big super villain: Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). This degenerative disease challenges him every day, hour and minute. He fights back hard. Some days he succeeds and some days he doesn’t, but he always gives his all in the daily battle to succeed at the simple everyday tasks that come so easily for the rest of us.
The Friends of Alec Syphas are supporting several good causes and charities. Bluebell Wood Hospice, Make a wish foundation, Muscular Dystrophy UK and Alec himself will all benefit from funds raised by our events.
