On the 28th of March 2018, my nephew, Albert van Vuuren was involved in a head on collision with a vehicle that swerved right in front of him at a traffic light intersection in Kuruman, South Africa. He hit the vehicle with his head first and his helmet exploded on impact.
The first medical treatment he received was not up to standard and caused more damage to his brain. (This according to doctors that treated him later on). He was declared brain dead and in a Coma by the local hospital. He does not belong to any medical aid as he was struggling to get a job for the last year or so and just recently got employment.
A local Business man donated money and my sister was able to get him transported to Kimberley and after a brain scan that revealed he had a fractured scull, but no other broken bones, they started treating him to get the pressure on his brain released. A few costly operations followed and he started his path of slow healing and recovery that is still going on.
He is currently off all the machines and his vital signs are good, but he is only starting to show signs of waking up and slight movement in his arms and his opening his eyes every now and then.
The medical bills are piling up and my Sister and her family have used all resources that are available and I want to help as much as possible to get Albert up and about again with as much medical help as possible.
Albert's son (6 months old) started crawling about a week ago and he was not even able to see it.
We would appreciate any donation to help him and his family on this difficult path to his recovery but we can not continue with the treatment if we do not receive your help.
Thank you and blessings to you and your loved ones.
