Support Cambodian family on behalf of Akio

Ons eigen klein gezinnetje heeft al alles dat we nodig hebben. In plaats van kadootjes voor Akio wouden wij graag een Cambodjaans gezin steunen dat ons nauw aan het hart ligt. Zij hebben een klein mobiel smoothie standje op straat dichtbij Zita's kantoor en ze werken zo hard om elke maand rond te komen. Ze hebben een 5j oude dochter die in het eerste leerjaar zit en een 10m oude baby. Ook al draait de business goed en vinden zowel toeristen als lokale mensen de smoothies en verse fruitsappen (allemaal aan $1) mega lekker, elke maand hebben ze moeilijkheden om hun rekeningen te betalen. Zo hebben ze maar een mega klein apartementje (van nog geen 3m of 3m), schoolrekeningen van hun 5j dochter, standgeld voor hun plekje op straat, etc.

We hebben hen al eens geholpen met een reisbedje te kopen waar de 10 maand oude baby kon in slapen en spelen terwijl de mama werkte. Voordien sliep de baby in een klein hangmatje op het voetpad maar vanaf dat ze zich kon omdraaien begon dat wat een gevaarlijke situatie te worden.

Als we 2400euro verzamelen en het hen geven in kleine porties van 100 per maand dan verdubbelen we hun maandsalaris voor twee jaar lang. Wij kijken er heel erg naar uit om hen te steunen en het leven wat makkelijker te maken.

Our own little family already has everything we need. Instead of receiving gifts for Akio, we would like to support a Cambodian family who is very dear to us. They own a small smoothie stand on the street near Zita's office and work so hard to make ends meet. They are the kindest couple you'll meet! They brighten our day, help us speak Khmer, connect with other locals, and of course make the best smoothies in all of Phnom Penh (all fresh fruit juices and shakes are just $1). Even though the business does well and is liked by long-term foreigners, locals, and tourists alike they still struggle every month to pay all their bills and meet the ambitions they have for their kids. Costs they have include their small 1 room (! not 1 bedroom) apartment, school fees for the 5y old's English school, payment for their smoothie stand spot on the street, safely storing the stand overnight, etc.

We've supported them in the past by fundraising for a pack-n-play so that the mom could continue working while the 10month old played around. Initially she was sleeping and playing in a small hammock but once she could turn over that became a bit too dangerous.

If we raise $2400 for the family and give it to them in small installments of $100 per month, this will basically almost double their monthly income for two years long. For once they will be able to live and support their family without having to worry about making ends meet.
