Help me save my father with leukemia

Greetings and many thanks to all of you who take the time to read and support us in these difficult times.

My name is Vlad Alexandru. I am writing the story of my father, who at the moment needs all the support that can be offered to him. He has a severe case of leukemia, and will need a stem cell transplant in less than two weeks.

One year and five months ago, in December 2020, my father first contracted the covid-19 virus in a severe form. Coincidentally, following treatment and testing for covid-19, there were suspicions that he may have lung cancer. Investigations were carried out, which showed that it was in fact an inflamed lump in the lungs which did not pose a very high risk at the time, and which was relatively easy to treat. However, CT scans and biopsies revealed that he developed an autoimmune disease with an inflammatory process. This disease is caused by covid; therefore, it is difficult to treat and / or remedy. Because of this, he begins treatment with high doses of cortisone, a drug that suppresses the immune system to reduce pain and swelling, inflammation. But it is also an extremely powerful medicine, having effects on the patient's condition, among which are effects on the liver, kidneys, blood pressure, heart, bones, etc.

During this period, he comes in contact with the covid virus for the second time, this time a not so severe form with fewer complications, but which further deteriorates his condition. During this time, he ends up spending weeks in the hospital, with only few days at home between them. Following another CT scan, there was also discovered a cerebral aneurysm, a condition characterized as a supple artery in the brain that swells, filling with blood, thus creating the risk of cerebral hemorrhage. Despite this, in the next period, now January 2022, his condition is temporarily stabilized and the risks are partially reduced. Following the endless tests performed, there was discovered a compression of the spinal vertebrae, which would require a spine operation that could not be performed due to his health.

In February 2022, the third confrontation with covid takes place, a much more severe confrontation than the previous ones, which brings with it chronic laryngitis. At this point his health is deteriorating rapidly and without signs of slowing down. Liquid is found in his right lung, a fluid that later becomes infected. This leads to leukemia. We are now in the present, diagnosed with acute myeloblastic leukemia, my father begins cytostatic treatment. He currently requires transplants of both blood and, most importantly, stem cells.

We are all supporting him as much as we can. Not having the financial means to support his treatment, the favorable case being to be able to send him for hospitalization in Turkey, me and my brother, Vlad Mihai, opened this fundraiser in the hope that we will be able to raise money for treatments and medicines. Many thanks to those who have the opportunity to support us in these moments, but also to those who took the time to read our story.

The money from this fundraiser will be used to provide the necessary treatment in Turkey, which gives us a chance to save his life, along with the costs of the medicines he needs.
