Aid for college

Hello, my name is Gabriela Chacón, I am 17 years old and I come from Turrialba, Costa Rica. Since I can remember it has been my dream to be able to study abroad and get to know different places around the world. Then, after a rigorous and demanding selection process I was granted with a full scholarship to study in UWC Robert Bosch College in Freiburg, Germany (from which I graduated last April). Also, not so long ago, I received one of the greatest news, my acceptance into university, once again, I was granted with a full scholarship to attend to Lake Forest College in Illinois, where I will be studying psychology and neuroscience.

I have been interested on the health path since I am pretty young, especially on mental health. I have developed different monographies on this area which I’ve present on a national level in the National Science Fair, being awarded with the 1st place in my category. And I want to use my interest on this topic in order to be able to have a positive impact on our society, which is one of the reasons I know that attending Lake Forest College would give me the opportunity to develop my potential and make a real change in this world.

Considering the financial background from which I come from, this kind of opportunities have been for me nothing less than blessings that came along with the hard work I have done to achieve all the things I achieved so far.

Nevertheless, despite the full scholarship I was granted, I am facing the possibility of not being able to attend on time for my first semester of university. This, since the school requires that I pay some medical examinations, as well as specific vaccinations and different documentation needed for the travel (such as visas), adding up to an approximate amount of $1 600. Since all this documents and medical examinations require some time, right now it seems impossible for me to be able to cover all this expenses on time to go to university.

Therefore, any contribution given to this campaign would mean a lot for me and my family and would help me to keep building my future and reaching my goals. I will be extremely thankful for any donation not only now, but for the next 4 years which I will spend in university.

Hola, me llamo Gabriela Chacón, tengo 17 años y vengo de Turrialba, Costa Rica. Desde que tengo memoria, mi sueño ha sido poder estudiar en el extranjero y conocer diferentes lugares del mundo. Luego, después de un riguroso y exigente proceso de selección, me otorgaron una beca completa para estudiar en UWC Robert Bosch College en Friburgo, Alemania (de la que me gradué en abril). Además, no hace mucho tiempo, recibí una de las mejores noticias, que fuí aceptada en la universidad, una vez más, me concedieron una beca completa para asistir a Lake Forest College en Illinois, donde estudiaré psicología y neurociencia.

He estado interesada en el área de la salud desde que soy bastante joven, especialmente en salud mental. He desarrollado diferentes monografías sobre este tema que he tenido la oportunidad de presentar a nivel nacional en la Feria Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología, logrando obtener el primer lugar en mi categoría. Y quiero utilizar mi interés en este tema para poder tener un impacto positivo en nuestra sociedad, que es una de las razones por las que sé que asistir a Lake Forest College me permitiría desarrollar mi potencial y hacer un cambio real en este mundo.

Teniendo en cuenta la situación económica de mi familia, este tipo de oportunidades han sido para mí nada menos que bendiciones que vinieron junto con el arduo trabajo que he realizado para lograr todas las cosas que he logrado hasta ahora.

Sin embargo, a pesar de la beca completa que me otorgaron, me enfrento a la posibilidad de no poder asistir a tiempo para mi primer semestre de la universidad. Esto, ya que la escuela requiere el pago de algunos exámenes médicos, así como vacunas específicas y diferentes documentos que necesitaría para el viaje (como visas), sumando un monto aproximado de $ 1 600. Dado que todos estos documentos y exámenes médicos toman tiempo, me parece imposible poder cubrir todos estos gastos a tiempo para ir a la universidad.

Por lo tanto, cualquier contribución dada a esta campaña significaría mucho para mí y mi familia y me ayudaría a seguir construyendo mi futuro y alcanzar mis metas. Estaré extremadamente agradecido por cualquier donación no solo ahora, sino por los próximos 4 años que pasaré en la universidad.
