Campaign Story
Millions of people across South Africa earn a living as informal traders.
The economic effects of COVID-19 are devastating and the most affected are those people earning a living in the informal sector: most of all the market and street vendors.
We have partnered with more than 140 informal traders and vendors from Alex township through Alexbiz and hope to partner with more across the country. These informal entrepreneurs and vendors have had their businesses hard hit by covid19 and the lockdown. The aim is to assist them to restock their business.
Enabling these entrepreneurs to start anew after the lockdown, which has already and continues to destroy livelihoods through loss of stock, trade and capital is a responsibility for us all.
While the government and other private players are putting in measures to assist formal small businesses, the forgotten and most vulnerable informal business owners, street vendors and micro unlicensed operators who do not qualify for the rescue packages are left exposed. Should this group of individuals be left on their own and forgotten, they will only but sink into a worse impoverished state, but do so with more dire far reaching effects, that go deep into the fabric of the majority of South African households.
Our mission is to raise funds to assist vendors purchase stock to resume their businesses after the lockdown. The Campaign :
#AidGogoDlamini🇿🇦
will raise funds that will be used to purchase various stock items to be disbursed to vendors as capital stock. Vendors will be identified and selected for stock donations to re-capitalize their businesses.
Let us re-empower and save our vendors.
