Campaign Story
Hi,
I am Engineer John, I want to introduce sustainable aquaponics to farmers in the Philippines.
The Philippines has some of the world's greatest biodiversity, however it located on the Pacific Ring of Fire and close to the equator makes the Philippines prone to earthquakes and typhoons.
Summary of major typhoons:
1. Haiyan (2013)- destruction cost(2 billion usd)
2. Bopha(2012)- destruction cost(1 billion usd)
3.Rammasun 2014- destruction cost(871 million usd)
4.Parma 2009-destruction cost(608million usd)
5,Nesat 2011 - destruction cost(333million usd)
6.Fengshen 2008- destruction cost(301 million usd)
Almost every year, Philippines is hit by typhoons, it is hard for farmers to recover from these disasters , burdened by loans they lose hope. They need our help to get their livelihood back. Make them stronger and more resilient to the future challenges that awaits them.
Therefore, designing a weatherproof livelihood for these farmers is our priority. Aquaponics can be built on a greenhouse, in which the fish and the plants are dependent on each other, the fish waste are filtered by the plants, the plants use it for their nutrients.
Donate $50 and get a free LED Grow Light and free tutorial on how to grow your plant indoors.
