Campaign Story
My wife’s parents, Manun and Samran, live in a small poor village in northern Thailand together with Moe, my wife’s sister’s 11 year old daughter, who we are helping to put through school for her future.
Their current dwelling is old and makeshift, and things like water supply etc are hit and miss. Although they have ‘lived’ there for thirty years, the land does not belong to them and could be reclaimed by the government at any time.
Both parents have diabetes and life is not easy working in sugar cane fields in the searing heat. My wife’s dream is to be able to build them a small house so they can have a more secure and comfortable life as they get older.
We have enough money to buy some land with the correct paperwork, and to get things started, but need another £40,000 to complete the modest build.
It’s a big ask, but if we are able to go ahead with this, contributors will be kept up to date with progress and photos all along the way.
