Hi all - some of you may have already heard about Si and Rachel's Yurt fire - everyone is fine and no-one hurt. However, they lost absolutely everything. As you might guess, you can't get contents insurance for a tent.
People have helped out with some of the basics, but everything they used to earn - through playing, performing, and demonstrating and selling craftwork at fairs, concerts and events - was lost.
I've spoken with Rachel and she had had some pipes on order which miraculously arrived AFTER the event (which was a couple of weeks ago) and Simon has been given a guitar and fiddle, so they have a means of honouring some forthcoming gigs. However, replacing the gurdy is less straightforward and this page has been established to try to raise enough to replace at least one of the gurdies. Your help will be much appreciated. Do donate if you can - if all the people they've brought pleasure and friendship over the years could each give a little, we could really make a difference for them.
