We call upon your help! We are a group from the Ngamiland area of Botswana that are taking on a 350km journey through wild Botswana wilderness on horseback, to raise awareness and funds for 2 charities and an upcoming riding club based in Maun. The two charities are the Water for Elephants Trust and Feed a Child Maun. Both charities have been hit hard by the covid pandemic as both were supported mainly by tourism based companies. If you help us reach our target 500 children in need can have a healthy meal for 1 whole month. One borehole can be drilled and cased giving water to an estimated 800 elephants during the dry season. Dream Fields riding club will be able to get the community club up and running.

WATER FOR ELEPHANTS

The Water for Elephant Trust was founded and managed by Elephant sands a little lodge near Nata in the wildlands of northeast Botswana.

Most of Botswana Consists of dry Sandy Kalahari woodlands and when winter hits it becomes a vast arid landscape and bringing with it thousands of thirsty elephants. As can be imagined bringing total chaos and destruction of infrastructure and property and causing harm to the younger elephants and humans in the desperate attempt to get a drink of water.

The issue doesn’t stop here due to the lack of water in these areas and the “human problem” that has cut through their natural migration routes to reach natural water sources a huge increase in human wildlife conflict has raised. In the desperation to find water, elephants wonder into local villages and towns, searching for this life source and in their dehydrated exhausted state they become aggressive and this has devastating consequences, leading to destruction of property, crops and in some cases death of both human and elephant.

The water for elephant trust was born, working hand in hand with authorities to install and maintain as many boreholes over eastern Botswana and hopefully remove the pressure and relief of the human wildlife conflict in the area.

Each borehole provides water for +/- 800 elephants and other species during the dry season.

Keeping these boreholes up and running is no easy task, as they are spread out many km through the untamed wilderness, not having proper roads can be a task on its own to access them. These efforts unfortunately cost a lot of money to uphold due to the covid pandemic lack of income funds are running out and the dry months are on their way yet again.

FEED A CHILD BOTSWANA

Feed A Child Botswana is a non-governmental organization founded in August 2012. The organization was formed to address basic nutritional needs of the community specifically orphans and vulnerable children and the elderly with ailing health. The organization takes an integrated, sustainable and people driven approach to empower people through proper nutrition.

Feed a Child Botswana’s mission is “to uplift the community through creation of necessary resources to help them make progress in every area that will contribute to an improved standard of life.” The organization’s vision is “to see a community where hindered development (physical, mental and social) and mortality of children due to malnutrition does not exist.”

Currently Feed a Child Botswana serves children, the elderly, pregnant women, and 4 families in Maun, who are identified in collaboration with local clinics.

Sadly funds are running out for this great cause and the meal that this organization provides are some of these children’s only meal for the day.

DREAM FIELDS EQUESTRIAN CENTRE

Dream Fields Equestrian Centre is a project that we are building up to be a place where we can introduce the healing power of horses to people in our community and getting those that might never get the chance to interact and work with horses to experience them and teach people how to properly care for them opening new job opportunities in the safari horse industry.

Please open your hearts while we take on the Botswana wilderness any contribution towards these causes will go a very long way and help more than you can ever imagine. All money raised will be divided equally between these 3 causes.
